Directed Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM)

Defying Threats from the Skies

Harnessing the power of advanced optical technology, our high Laser Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT) resistant filters, windows, and mirrors are arming aircraft against infrared homing missiles. They are the pivotal component in Directional Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM), providing a robust shield against potential airborne threats.

Leonardo AW101 Helicopter

Airborne threats such as infrared homing missiles, primarily MANPADS and similar systems, pose significant risks to aircraft. To counter these threats, the technology of Directional Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM) has been developed, which effectively jams infrared missile seekers and disorients their tracking systems. The beating heart of these advanced systems, enabling their functionality and efficiency, is our high Laser Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT) resistant filters, windows, and mirrors.

Our high LIDT resistant optics allow the DIRCM systems to produce pulsing flashes of IR energy with sufficient intensity to confuse the guidance system of any incoming missile. They are designed to withstand the high laser-induced damage that these pulsing flashes can cause, thereby ensuring the longevity and performance of the DIRCM systems.

Business Jet

With our optics at the core, the DIRCM technology operates at peak performance, providing a steadfast shield against IR threats.

Our proprietary LIDT resistant optics are designed with an understanding of the unique operating conditions that DIRCM systems must withstand. In active mode, DIRCM systems emit high-intensity, rapid-pulsing infrared light. Our LIDT resistant filters, windows, and mirrors are engineered to endure this harsh operating environment without degradation, ensuring the DIRCM system's effective functionality over extended periods of use.

Moreover, these components contribute to the DIRCM system's standby mode readiness. When the DIRCM system is in standby mode, the aircrew can switch it to active mode at any moment to begin jamming IR threats. Our high LIDT resistant optics ensure that the system can seamlessly transition between these modes, offering protection whenever it's needed.

DIRCM System

The Directed Infrared Counter Measure systems powered by our LIDT resistant optics are designed to fit into various types of aircraft, from military aircraft to commercial airliners, providing everyone on board with an advanced layer of protection against airborne threats.

Our innovative LIDT resistant optics are a testament to our dedication to advancing the state of aircraft protection technology.

By making the skies safer, we're contributing to a world where the airborne threats are efficiently neutralised, and safety in aviation reaches new heights
