Made In The South West Shortlists Revealed

Manufacturers from across the region, including a handmade ice cream producer, an artisan confectioner and a maker of people dryers for the leisure industry, are among the businesses in the running to win an award at Insider's prestigious Made in the South West 2016, with the shortlists revealed today.

There are nine categories this year, and the winners in each category automatically go through to the national Made in the UK in 2017, which is part of the National Festival for Business.

The shortlist was decided by a judging panel chaired by South West Business Insider editor Graham Southorn. The judges were Simon Howes, managing director, SWMAS; John Rubidge, head of innovation in services at the Department for International Trade South West; Nick Hurst, executive chairman, Artemis Optical; and Jim Davison, region director, South of England, EFF.

Graham Southorn said: “It was really difficult to decide on the shortlist this year, as the standard of entries was so high. We had an enjoyable debate on the judging day, and many congratulations to all those shortlisted.”

Made in the South West is sponsored by Atradius, Barclays, Hunter Selection, Michelmores, South Gloucestershire & Stroud College, water2business, and Higos.

The awards evening takes place on Wednesday 2 November at the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel. For full details and booking information, click here.
